Office of Business Development

The Office of Business Development (Office) helps business overcome obstacles sometimes encountered when interacting with government agencies. Each business situation is unique, and the Office seeks individualized solutions or directs business owners and leaders to appropriate state resources. The Office is part of the Department of Administration Secretary’s Office and this access to leadership is what makes the Office effective in solving problems as quickly as possible.

The Office of Business Development interacts with business owners, trade associations, affiliated organizations, and chambers of commerce throughout Wisconsin to ensure business has a seat at the table. The Office advocates for business interests within government and presents rule change recommendations to the appropriate agency or the Legislature. The Office works closely with the Small Business Regulatory Review Board to reduce or remove burdens that laws and rules place on business in Wisconsin.

Additionally, the office organizes webinars that support Wisconsin small businesses and nonprofits. Past webinars have featured tips for successful grant writing, an overview of how to become certified as a diverse supplier with the State of Wisconsin, a look at Wisconsin’s economic outlook, and a guide to writing a business plan. You can stream the webinars or download the presentations by clicking on the links below.
